And while the police are looking to increase their numbers, the COVID-19 numbers in Belize are decreasing.
Belize is now down to only 794 active cases - and while this is still more than health officials would like to see, it's a major decrease from just last month where active cases surpassed 2,000. That means 90.4% of the total number of infections - which is 10,724 - have recovered.
Today alone, 96 new recoveries were reported, offsetting the 57 new cases identified.
But, it's not all good news, as another family has lost their loved one to the virus. This brings the death toll to 242. 22 persons are still hospitalized, and 6 are in the ICU.
Of the new cases discovered, 22 of them were in the Cayo District, and 17 in the Belize District.
