Tonight, the COVID numbers continue to trend up - both in terms of deaths and new cases, but the number of hospitalized persons remains low.
There are four deaths to report, three males and one female - all of them from the Cayo District. Three were unvaccinated, and one was fully vaccinated.
There are also 352 new cases - about a hundred less than was reported last night - but contributing to the 1,596 active cases - which is one thousand more than one week ago. The daily positivity rate is 17.4% - which, again, is considered very high, but not as high as last night's 21.2%.
But, even with all these high numbers - the number of hospitalized persons remains low at 10, with 4 in the ICU. The majority of them have been vaccinated.
The four deaths recorded today brings Belize over the 600 death mark as we close 2021. One year ago, on December 31, 2020 there were 248 deaths.
