COVID containment measures have pretty much gone by the wayside since the start of April, but the COVID infectivity rate has been steadily increasing.
Today's infectivity rate is 5.43% with 54 new cases, but fortunately only 3 hospitalizations.
A release from the Ministry of Health and Works says, quote, "The COVID-19 virus continues…spread in Belize. Over the last four days, the ministry has seen a steady increase in cases of COVID-19 countrywide, with the Belize and Cayo districts reporting higher than normal activity." End quote.
It urges the public to refer to their basic COVID precautions, meaning continuing to wear masks indoors and in crowded spaces, wash and/or sanitize hands regularly and social distance and avoid crowded spaces whenever possible.
We don't know how these cautions will be factored into the National Agricutural and Trade Show which is set for the weekend of May 27, 28, and 29th.
