And on Wednesday we told you that almost one million dollars worth of contraband medication was busted by police and customs officers in Orange Walk Town. The couple transporting the medications will be prosecuted in court, and reports are that they were going to pass off the meds to a well known supplier.

It's a major concern for the Ministry of Health, and today, Bernard emphasized the danger to peoples' lives that these bogus medications could have caused if they had reached the pharmacy shelves.

"I can tell you this, when I got wind of that information, uh, through a phone call, by the way, my response was simple, take the matter to the full extent of the law. We cannot allow, we've been hearing these things for years that has been happening, but we cannot allow people to get away. I don't care who they are. I don't care which political party they are assigned to or favors. That is health you're talking about, you are talking about people's, uh, livelihood, life, actually not livelihood, but life because you cannot allow medications to come to this country without being inspected properly. Um, so..."
