A law professor is U.S. President George W. Bush's pick to be the next American ambassador to Belize. The U.S. Embassy today announced that Robert Johann Dieter has been nominated and his name has been sent to the U.S. Senate for confirmation. Dieter who is a married father of 3 is currently the Director of Clinical Programs and Clinical Professor of law at the University of Colorado's Law School. He is a former Deputy District Attorney for the seventh Judicial District of Colorado which is similar to a Director of Public Prosecutions in Belize.
Dieter succeeds Ambassador Russell Freeman who was appointed Ambassador after George Bush's election in 2000.
