The situation in Honduras remains volatile tonight as tension in that country remains high. There have been huge protests in favour of both ousted President Manuel Zelaya and his replacement provisional leader Roberto Micheletti. Now the world community is looking to the OAS Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza to make a decisive intervention.

Insulza is scheduled to travel to Honduras on Friday where he will insist on the restoration of President Zelaya. In Guyana today, he told the summit of CARICOM heads of government chaired by Belizean Prime Minister Dean Barrow that, quote, "We are not going to Honduras to negotiate. We are going to Honduras to ask them to change what they have been doing." If they do not comply the OAS general membership has taken the decision to suspend that country’s membership in the regional organization at the end of 72 hours.
