And in other news of geopolitical significance, CARICOM is calling for a global summit to discuss equitable access and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines.

A release from the organization of states today says quote: "The reality is that small states will find it difficult to compete in the marketplace to ensure equitable access for vaccines. Given the transmissibility of the virus, all countries are vulnerable and should work together."

They argue that linkages, whether social, economic, or through international travel, make the case for the region to be afforded access to vaccines

But while the Caribbean finds itself petitioning for the life saving antidote to a worldwide pandemic, that miracle cure has already touched down up north. Last night a heavily secured SEDENA plane landed at the Cancun International Airport it was to deliver the first shipment of a Pfizer Vaccines to Quintana Roo.

Reports are that the vaccines will be free and administered in stages with priority given to health personnel, older adults, and populations at greater risk of COVID complications.
