It's been a crazy couple of days for Southwest Airlines after winter storms in the U.S. caused havoc on their point-to-point system of flight transfers.

That system, while designed to make flights cheaper has experienced a domino effect disaster after with one cancellation after the other.

And tonight one of those cancellations has thrown a wrench into the ultimate travel plan, a now ruined destination wedding in Belize after bride Katie Demko was told nothing could be done to get her to the Belizean beach on time. Here's what she told ABC News:

Katie Demko
"We went to the airport like nothing, our flight was on time, we were getting ready to board and as we were getting ready to board, they came out. The captain came out, gave a speech and basically told us the flight was cancelled. At that point I had a lot of my family with me, I was in shock. We tried to re-book and there was nothing. SouthWest actually booked me on a flight for January 2nd. My wedding is tomorrow, December 30th so that is pass the date of the wedding. There are no flights until January 1st. We've looked at everything we possibly could and there are no flights."

Southwest Airlines has cancelled about 15,700 flights since winter weather started disrupting air travel a week ago.
