It didn't make headlines here, but on February 23rd, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution calling for an end to the war in Ukraine and demanded Russia's immediate withdrawal from the country.

Belize was one of the sponsors of that resolution and as a thank you the Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine is currently on a courtesy visit to Belize.

He told the press today that he rates Belize highly:

And while that may be a far-off hope, Ukraine is hoping to provide some regional relief from inflationary pressures with their "Grain from Ukraine" program. It's currently reaching out to Africa and perhaps in the future, Central America.

Ukraine provides a large percentage of the world's grains - and with the war destroying its economy - the shortage of products from Ukraine are a key ingredient in global inflation.
