And zooming out from the local to the international, we also asked the Prime Minister about the multiple warships the US has US deployed to the Caribbean - including what President Donald Trump described as a deadly strike on a Venezuelan drug vessel.

US officials have since made it clear that military action in the region is not over, suggesting more operations that could target drug trafficking. Today the media asked the PM his views about it:

John Briceno, Prime Minister

"Well, I can't speak for Caricom, but of course we will be concerned. But at the same time, we're also very concerned about these narco traffickers, and we need to find ways so we can keep them where they are and not allow them to come into countries like Belize and to create havoc. And, as I've said from when I was given the privilege to be the prime minister of this country, I've always said one of my biggest concerns in narco trafficking, and seeing to see how we can keep them out of buildings as best as possibly can, and we're spending millions of dollars trying to do that. And we are being a heavy price for that. But I don't think that, keeping our citizens safe has a price tag."
