And moving on for tonight from the Budna case to the case of Sebastian Pop -who was abducted in February of 2023 by a Guatemalan mob - the Prime Minister put the blame on the family. He says no one came to the government for help:
John Briceno, Prime Minister

"Well, obviously, that just came to light to us. Nobody came to us to help make any, any kind of report to us that this happened. I think it was in 2022, 2023. And we could not take action if it we did not know about it. So now that it has come to us, I think the ministry of foreign affairs, I think, should have already taken steps, I think the minister said so, on writing a diplomatic, note. But it seems also that this man has been accused of murdering somebody in Guatemala. We do not condone anybody coming into our country and abducting people illegally. But also, if you committed a crime elsewhere, I think we can't turn our heads to that."
To correct the Prime Minister - the family says they went to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Home Affairs and police but claims they were ignored.
