The Belize Defense Force was today on the receiving end of $1.2 million worth of communication equipment.

The package of radio equipment, including towers, antennas, and radios will be used primarily during national disasters or for military purposes. That donation came by way of the Ministry of Defense and NEMO which also hooked up the BDF with its computer lab. Defense Minister Hon. Godfrey Smith said the 10 computers will be used to make soldiers computer literate and give them email access. The lab is hooked up to a wireless computer network and the BDF says military officers have already been trained in its upkeep.

And the U.S. government also handed over a 2004 ford F-350 pickup to the BDF. The pickup will be used by the maritime wing of the BDF.
