They've given up on fixing the streetlights at the Douglas Jones intersection, but they haven't given up on issuing driver's licenses, at least not yet. We refer the fact that the department has not been issuing drivers' licenses for the past 6 weeks and now, it will be at least three weeks more before any are issued. Director Michael Godoy explained that they have been having computer software problems and that's the holdup. According to Godoy, the problem is that the software originates from Barbados but they haven't been able to get it to work here. Sounds like a dime holding up a dollar, but Godoy is confident that it will all be worked out by December 22nd. In the interim those who apply for licenses are given a collectors' receipt to show instead of a genuine license.
