Tomorrow morning at 7:00, the machinery of the official state funeral for national hero George Price kicks into gear. That's when the BDF vehicle procession with his body will leave the KHMH - half hour earlier than announced - to head to the Bliss Center where it will lie in state until 3:00 in the afternoon.
For those who want to go into the Bliss to view the closed casket, the viewing will begin at 8 where mourners will be asked to queue up, single file, walk into the Bliss, walk around the body and then depart. Tent will be set up in the adjoining BTL parking lot to accommodate mourners who may come en masse.
That will be followed by a not so private mass held by the family at holy redeemer. From there the body goes to Belmopan where it will lie in state on Sunday at the George Price Center. And then on Monday morning at 6:30 - the time of Price's death - Church bells all across the country will ring. From there at 9:00, it's the state funeral on the stairs of the national assembly for which 1800 seats will be put out on the assembly stairs.
There will be a mass followed by a eulogy plus two official speeches from the leader of the opposition and the prime minister. And then the body heads to the city for the Lord's ridge cemetery where the Price family plot has been prepared. George Price will be buried among his relatives, at least one of them also named George Price.
Only family and media will be allowed at the burial site - where there will also be a gun salute. The body is expected to reach the city after noon. Those travelling anywhere on Monday are advised that the western highway will be lcosed while the procession is on it.
