Sick Out At Passport Office?

Last night we reported on the plan that is before Cabinet to take immigration officers out of the passport and nationality section of the Immigration Department. From what we have heard, the proposal is to split up what is now one section into smaller sections, each with direct oversight from a senior public officer.

Well, news of that may have prompted a sort of sick out today in that section., 7News has received reports which say that four of the 8 officers in that section called in sick today, which two others were quite late.

That caused lines and long delays at the office.
