Gas pain from high pump prices - we report on it almost nightly - but police policemen assigned to the eastern division could be getting some relief.
That's because their new regional commander, Howell Gillett, has secured fuel cards, but only as a reward for the best and the bravest among them. He told our hosts about the special incentive when he appeared on Sunup on 7 this morning.
ACP Howell Gillett, Regional Commander, Eastern Division
"This week right here we will receive some fuel cards, as you know fuel is high at this time and then we want to reward our officers. Some people say but how about civilians, but I can't be worried about others like that, I have to be worried about the officers who serve with us, so we are looking after them, we will get some cards and I want officers to know that the card won't go to each and every police officer, it's a merit based system, you have to earn it, because there is not sufficient to give to the amount of officers here in eastern division. We've already signed an agreement with a pharmacy that police officers could get up to 10% and then we are working with a fuel station to a long term one, that police officers will see a percentage discount when they go to the fuel station."
