And while Shyne Barrow had his father's support - Tracy Panton and the backing of the most recent leader, Patrick Faber. He did not return to Belize for the convention - but he did pledge his support for her on Facebook, his former campaign manager was her campaign manager, and on Sunday his committee was the political muscle behind Tracy Panton.

In fact, it was felt that if he had shown his face at the convention - with the influence he still enjoys in the party - that could have swung the narrow margin in her favor.

It's a complicated political dynamic - since he is a disgraced former leader - forced to step down by multiple allegations of domestic abuse - and she is a woman candidate.

Today, Taegar Panton made it clear she still believes Faber has a role to play.

Hon. Tracy Taegar-Panton, UDP Area Rep., Albert
"I think Patrick has a lot to contribute to the party still and I certainly would have preferred if Patrick was here on the ground. I certainly would have preferred for him to demonstrate his support and just speak of his support, but that was his call and it is what it is. Patrick support or lack of support would not have derailed my approached to running for leader of this party."

Faber left the country after the Uncut incident in January, and, to our knowledge, has not returned since. He is also grieving a deceased sibling.
