Earlier in the news, we showed you the comments of Acting Prime Minister Cordel Hyde and Housing Minister Julius Espat. They were discussing a number of national interest topics, but that opportunity to speak with them happened this morning, during a handing over of a new house to a needy family in the Lake Independence area.

It's part of Government's Housing program, promised in their Plan Belize election manifesto, and today, the Ministry handed over the keys to the Chan family. 7News was there, and Daniel Ortiz has that story:

We understand that the patriarch of the family has struggled with health issues, and is currently recovering from a stroke.

The MIDH also handed over houses to 5 other families: 4 of them in Lake Independence.
