Yesterday we told you that Cemetery Road will finally get the repairs it needs. For weeks, there was finger pointing between MIDH and Belize CitCo about whose responsibility it was.
The mayor has been insisting for some time that the road is the responsibility of MIDH. But it looks like he's conceded that maybe CitCo is in charge of its repairs. Today, they issued a release saying that while their initial goal was to rehabilitate 90 streets by the end of 2024, they've had to adjust their priority projects to include Cemetery Road.
The release says the road experienced accelerated deterioration following heavy rains in late December 2023 and January 2024. And now the repairs will be a collaborative effort between them, the MIDH, and the BTB. CitCo says that this collaboration will ensure that the improvements meet the highest standards of quality and durability.
