The Prime Minister also commented today on the Trade Union Congress and its decision to launch countrywide protests at the conclusion of a public awareness campaign. The Prime Minister said that they're free to protest, but they'd better not strike.

Said Musa, Prime Minister
"When the Unions were fighting for the salary increase for their workers they had a legitimate cause in terms of an industrial or trade dispute and of course they had a right to strike over that issue. I ask the question now, based on our law, what industrial dispute is there between the government and the unions? I say there is none and so I would say that they need to think carefully about this whole issue about striking. Striking over a policy of the government regarding taxes? Striking over demanding what the taxes should be? Do they have any such right? They have a right to protest but do they have a right to strike as civil servants of this country? What is the industrial dispute? That is all I would say."

The Unions have only said at this point that they will protest. They continue with public awareness campaigns countrywide.
