And while the Minister of Foreign Affairs Godfrey Smith was waxing political on reform, there's no wax that could put a shine on a little black spot in the diplomatic fraternity. 7NEWS has confirmed that Belize's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Stuart Leslie yesterday found out that the word permanent is just a title; and one that has nothing to do with job security.

Ambassador Leslie, who has represented Belize in New York since 1998 has been relieved of his post, and, we gather, is no longer with the Foreign Service. It is known that Leslie, who was the first foreign officer to address the United Nations General Assembly on behalf of the state in 2004 never shared a close relationship with his Minister. And more than that, he is close to a political contemporary of Smith, Co-Deputy Leader Johnny Briceno and that is an alliance that may have proven costly.

Indications now are that he will be replaced by Minister-counselor Janine Coye-Felson.
