The hard talk has started again between City Hall and Belmopan. The UDP today issued a release saying it, "reserves all its rights to further action" - and by "all action" we take it to mean, all disruptive action. That was the decision taken at a National Party Council meeting yesterday in San Ignacio Town.

So why is the UDP back to the hard line? Well, the release explains that government has been showing bad faith by not officially communicating to the City Council how the head tax will work, or when it will be paid. The National party council also condemned government's decision not to pay the $380,000 in arrears on the MOU with the BTB.

Now, by once again "reserving its rights to further action" - the UDP resurrects the threat of disruption to those cruise tourist services that use city streets.

Government has said that the Ministry of Local Government will communicate the official position to the City Council but there's been no date set for that. We are told that the Cabinet Secretary is in the process of writing a letter to the City Council.
