Right now, the Trade Union Congress of Belize is holding emergency meetings. These have been precipitated by issues we can assume having to do with the Universal takeover and most recently the developing BTL matter.

As we had reported last night the Communications Workers Union delivered a letter of 21 days notice of industrial action to BTL's management. In it the union has asked its membership to go-slow and escalating on Monday with a go-slow and work to rule.

In response today BTL's head of the human resources and union issues Marth Molina wrote the President of the CWU saying that the union has failed to follow procedures to deal with union grievances. The letter concludes by saying that the company "requests that if the union has legitimate grievances, it follow the designated grievance procedure." However, all indications are the union will not follow those Procedures and proceed with a go slow and work to rule on Monday.
