Outgoing PSU President Dylan Reneau became famous for mouthing that deathless expression as a challenge to the Prime Minister: reform, resign or be removed. Now, a union firebrand known for being even more outspoken, Jacqueline Willoughby Sanchez has taken up the presidency that Reneau held for four years. Today she told us that her tenure will be notable.

Jules Vasquez,
What can we expect from your tenure as president of the PSU?

Jackie Willoughby-Sanchez, PSU President
"You can definitely expect for that same firebrand to go on. I am an object thinker, I wonder why you didn't put that in there, but I am an object thinker and I intend to continue to uphold the justice and fairness for workers of this country. That is what I represent.

One of my first things is definitely to meet back with the membership, to engage the membership, to have them come back onboard. But general Belizeans on a whole we have been a bunch of complacent people. We take long to react and unfortunately we're taking up the mentality of many; 'unless it affects my house it is not important.'

Jules Vasquez,
You expect that you will be able to excite greater support from the general membership of the PSU?

Jackie Willoughby-Sanchez
"I know that I will be able to."
