In June, members of the Mayan community of Conejo went to the Supreme Court claiming that government had systematically ignored their constitutional rights and their tenure over ancestral lands. Well, now the Julian Cho Society claims that government is going on like all that never happened because government has recently surveyed land in Conejo.

According to the Society, this was done without consultation and is in advance of leases which will be issued to private individuals. That's their claim, but we couldn't get comment from the Ministry of Natural Resources to find out what's officially their plan. But at any rate, the Cho Society says it prejudices their claims.
