Today Hulse also spoke about the auditor general's report, which was tabled at the sitting. Now it's not his audit which is four years behind, it's his report and when it was laid on the table, Hulse commented on some of what was in that report.
Senator Godwin Hulse, Business Sector
"If you turn to page nine, section 120 is with all due respect Mr. President a very very damning statement. I quote, 'based on our audits over the last two year and the number of cases that surfaced during those audits, it is safe to say that fraud and impropriety is widespread throughout the public service.' That is no easy statement coming from the Auditor General. That should make everybody stand up and pay attention, that he can say it is safe to that. And he says this is caused mainly by the absence of the practice of internal controls outlined within the financial regulations."
Shortly after that, Hulse was cut short by the President of the Senate Phillip Zuniga who explained that procedurally that was not the time to discuss it. Hulse said he would do so on the adjournment, but when that time came around, the president shut him down again - citing standing order limitations.
