The plan to build a sports center at the Marion Jones Stadium has been in the planning stages for years. But finally a contract to build the sports center has been signed, but with it comes another controversy. 7NEWS has received credible reports which say that yesterday Prime Minister Said Musa along with Minister of Sports Rodwell Ferguson signed a $16.9 million contract with the Bella Vista Group to construct the sports center. But just minutes before the contract was signed, Prime Minister point blankly refused to answer any questions. Here's what he said to_ Keith Swift.

Keith Swift, 7NEWS
Mr. Prime Minister can you talk to us about the status of the Belize Sports Center?

Rt. Hon. Said Musa, Prime Minister of Belize
"I will not going to talk to Channel 7 until you settle my libel case. Okay?"

After that little tizzy, the PM's security detail pushed our news team out of the way. The lawsuit Musa refers to is against Channel 7. It is not for the editorial content of the news or programming, but for a UDP commercial which aired on Channel 7. The matter is in the hands of our attorney. But back to the question that the PM didn't want to answer. There appears to be some dispute about who was given the contract, and who won the bid. Reliable reports say that one company won, but another got the bid. That's what we would have wished for the PM to clarify.
