And while you heard a lot of those people we spoke to not knowing who Phillip Goldson is – what most of them did know is what they plan to do next year. You may have one or you might not even believe in such things. Sure, January one is just another day – but the Belize City residents we spoke to this morning say it’s a time for personal and national renewal.
Man #1: For 2008 we would like to see more streets get fixed and we want top see the poor people live up to a standard cause people are suffering right now because the government we don’t know what they are doing. We don’t know if they are taking our money or what but all we want is for them to fix Belize.
KS: What is your New Year’s resolution?
Man #1: My New Year’s resolution is to be active and stay out of trouble and do something positive.
Man #2: I would want the government to change because people are tired of PUP.
Man #3_: My New Year’s Resolution is to do a lot of saving in terms of I am planning to take a course in my security field and I plan to do a lot of saving.
Man #4: I will change my life…by behaving. I have my girl so I have to change now. I’ve been to jail ten times so its about time I change now.
Woman #1: Lose some weight and live for God.
KS: What you hope change in Belize next year?
Woman #1: Everything, crime, politics, everything.
Man #5: I have a lot of goals to accomplish like I want a new job.
Woman #2: This year I plan to not to argue too much…I hope that the politicians instead of working against each other, they will work more for the people. Get together as a body of people and try to achieve what the people want in this country and make them more comfortable and happy.”
