As the PM said, and as we had predicted, the referendum on the elected Senate will be on the same day as elections, but on a separate ballot. And interesting scenario because the public champion of the elected Senate, Godwin Hulse has gone on record to say that he will campaign against the referendum if it is on the election day. And so it is. We put that to the Prime Minister today.

Rt. Hon. Said Musa,
"All that we are asking them to do is to decide on the issue, whether or not you want an elected senate. We are not deciding on election day the issue of am elected senate in the sense of working it all out. We will be putting out a model and a suggested model. But the truth of the matter is the whole process of what type of elected senate we will have, if the people so decide, there needs to be very serious dialogue, must be made in fact, so that we can settle the type of Senate that will work for the good of Belize."

Jules Vasquez,
Are you concerned that you may not have the support of the Senator Godwin Hulse, lead advocate of an elected Senate? He has indicated that if you coincide it with election day, he will not support it.

Rt. Hon. Said Musa,
"Godwin Hulse is one vote."

One vote, but wide influence, and it appears Senator Hulse is eager to wield it. Senator Hulse has joined with former UDP Cabinet Secretary Henry Gordon and Chamber General Manager Kevin Herrera to form the group of three. They will hold a joint press conference tomorrow.
