If you’ve been following the Amandala editorial for, say the last 5 years –you’ll know that more than twice, Publisher Evan X Hyde has accused Mesopotamia Representative Michael Finnegan of being funded by Michael Ashcroft and thus, controlled by him. And that’s why we thought it noteworthy when on his Lik Road show on Wednesday night, Housing Minister Finnegan weighed in on the dispute between Sagis and Krem. Finnegan said he and Ashcroft are friends, but in the affairs between Sagis and Krem, right is right and, in his view, so is Krem.

Hon. Michael Finnegan, Minister of Housing
“Ashcroft says he wants back his money and from the evidence, from the news report, the evidence in the court, I understand that Partridge Street is saying, ‘see your money here and we will give you interest on the money.’ It is the money you want back so I would want to believe that that would be sufficient and that would be end of story. Now, on the other hand I enjoy a cordial relationship with Lord Ashcroft and I don’t hide it. They didn’t give me any money for the election I ran, they gave me school things two times for my division and for which we are grateful for. But that is where the relationship goes and ends and I am a freeman to say what I think is right and what is wrong.”

Finnegan says that Ashcroft has only helped him with scholarship programmes in his division and has not provided campaign funding.
