Will the UDP allow Mark King to run for City Council after he lashed out at his Mayor? That’s what the party considered at a meeting on Tuesday night. King tells us he hasn’t been told what was decided. But insiders tell us that the party leader’s position is clear and public: that king should not offer himself for the convention after he broke his oath to run a clean convention campaign. The information is that if he does offer himself, he will not be permitted to contest the convention.
In related news, resigned Senator Juliet Thimbriel has left the building, but not for good. After resigning as Senator and being suspended from on-air duties at Wave Radio for two weeks, Thimbriel today confirmed to us that she is leaving the country until the end of September. She also clarified that her conversation with Party Leader Dean Barrow yesterday – which we characterized as a firm rebuke from an angry leader – was in fact, civil, calm and short.
Thimbriel resigned after that conversation, and sent the word out by headlining it on Wave’s midday news. Barrow – who left the country yesterday on personal leave – most likely did not get to hear it before he departed.
