Earlier this week we told you that the social partners are not participating in the regional housing committees which are deciding how the Venezuelan housing money will be disbursed, but now one of them wants in. Originally, the National Trade Union Congress of Belize, the Chamber of Commerce, and the University of the West Indies had agreed to participate, but decided to sit out because of disagreement about how the government had decided to disburse the Venezuelan money.
The government, who decided to use the money for home improvement instead of home construction, moved on with the disbursement of the money in spite of what the social partners had to say. Today the NTUCB sent out a release stating that they have decided to nominate persons to serve on Regional Oversight Sub-committees.
The nominee for the Northern Region is Horris Patten, for the Central region, Richard Bowman, for the Western Region, Ramon Carcamo, and for the Southern region, Cordelia Foreman.
