Last night on this newscast - you heard former PUP standard bearer for Port Loyola, Oscar Rosado give a very remarkable interview in which he announced that he would not run for the PUP again, that he was resigning from the PUP, and that neither he nor his family would not vote PUP again.

In boxing, you'd call that a body blow, but the PUP handled it gamely today with a short release. It says, quote: "The National Executive…is surprised and disappointed by the decision of Oscar Rosado Jr….."

And then it states:

"The National Executive…categorically denies any involvement in alleged threats to Mr. Rosado." It ends charitably, saying:

"The doors will always be open for Oscar to re-join the Party." But we may be able to hear those doors inching shut after we show the rest of Rosado's interview form yesterday in which he publicly praises Henry Young and Boots Martinez and cautions the leader of the PUP against opportunists in his ranks.

Here's the rest of that interview:…

Jules Vasquez
"Mr. Rosado, we receive the interest, you know you have people in the PUP who will say, I know they've said this 'good riddance to bad luck, Husky couldn't have won in Port Loyola anyway'."

"I don't think that's a good assessment, I have done my work, I continue working until the end of November and people are telling me Oscar 'we are waiting for you, are you running or not running, it is you that we want to support' I told them yes man and we were continuing with plan and everything but with the way it's going I can't continue."

Jules Vasquez
"Is there some sort of shift in the PUP if outstanding people like yourself, Mark Espat, Cordel Hyde, Francis Fonseca are not in the fore front of the PUP public face. Is that the a sign that something is amiss in the party?"

Oscar Rosado Jr, Resigns from PUP
"Yes I would say so because there are all good people like you say, they have always supported me when I needed help and have been confronting problems like this present one. They don't want me to resign but I have made up my mind and I thank them for their support but what I can say is that I will advise the party leader, I am not even sure if he know what's going on but I think he needs to look further and deeper and find out what's going on, what type of people are coming to him and getting into his party because at the end of the day if all the good ones go because they do have good people within the party. They will end up losing at the end and if they want to govern this country he has to go through his party and makes sure who he chooses, we can't allow people that will manipulate and do what they want. If that's the way there are going to be and we are in opposition imagine what we will go through if they come to govern. The people need a good man, you can't go there with other interest to make money and to get big contracts like most of them want to. You have to go in there with your heart and soul and do what a politician is suppose to do. They go and they leave a good name and that tomorrow they pass, they could always say Mr. Martinez, Mr. Rosado you know that man work just the way like Mr. Henry Young a lot of people talk so good about him. My case my parents have given me my name, I will not dirty my name, I have gotten a good name from the family and friends that surround me and so today I say thank you and goodbye with dignity and pride."

Jules Vasquez
"Now you say you leave with dignity and pride but Oscar you also leave as you display earlier with sadness and with regret, you don't want to go."

Oscar Rosado Jr, Resigns from PUP
"I didn't want to go but I have to go."

There are a number of candidates who have expressed interest in running for PUP in Port Loyola, and one of them, Gilroy Usher Sr., has jumped out to what looks to be an early lead, plastering the area with banners….
