And in another political development of note, Corozal North Area Representative Nemencio Acosta - may have been politically left for dead, but like Lazarus, he's back!
The lame duck representative, who lost his post as Corozal North standard bearer in a May convention was today sworn in as Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.
Political insiders tell us that Acosta was one of the UDP representatives who was offered a substantial cash incentive to vote against the ninth amendment or simply not show up to the House meeting - and thus deny the Government side of the 24 votes they needed to carry the constitutional amendment.
But he did show up and he did vote for it - and his restoration to the post as a minister of state is seen as a reward for that act of loyalty.
According to the Prime Minister, two UDP representatives were offered and refused million dollar bribes to vote against, abstain, or absent themselves for the vote on the ninth.
