Commenting on the unfortunate and ominous incident today, the UDP party leader said that his party's supporters were the ones being harassed:

Hon. Patrick Faber, Party Leader, U.D.P.
"Yesterday in Red Bank Village, a group of our campaigners they were agitated, they were bated by members of the opposition and supporters of the opposition interfering with flags and posters that were on a vehicle and of course that caused some problems that ended up in a police officer firing 2 warning shots after machetes came out from some of these folks who were of course harassing our supporters."

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"You all took a decision, you said it was a hard decision against motorcades, but then on Sunday in Red Bank there goes a quite large motorcade where the people I saw they didn't seem to be mask or socially distanced. It was not a good situation from a public health perspective. If you all too a decision on Saturday against motorcades, why was there a motorcade on Sunday in Red Bank Village?"

Hon. Patrick Faber, Party Leader, U.D.P.

"Well we took a decision against motorcades nationwide for nomination day, to be quite specific and from what I gathered what you called a motorcade that you are referring to in Red Bank that was not a planned motorcade. It was not something that the party had any kind of previous knowledge or approval of. As I understand it from our standard-bearer Ivan Williams, this was pantry distribution. I also warned and continue to warn our supporters and campaigners, members engaging in the campaign of behalf of the UDP to make sure that they are practicing social distancing and the mask wearing. Now, from my understanding some of that may not have been adhere to in Red Bank on Saturday. I am not going to say that something happened that did not happen there and so if that was the case then we take responsibility for that. We use it as a learning lesson."
