Turning now to politics...

So far, out of the 88 politicians who want your vote in the upcoming general elections, we have shown you the nominated candidates in all the electoral divisions from Corozal to Cayo.

Tonight, in our last election-day preview of the candidates, we report now on the nominees for the constituencies in the Stann Creek and Toledo Districts. Daniel Ortiz has that story:

In the Dangriga constituency, there are nominees representing 3 mass parties.

For this division, the incumbent is UDP's Frank "Papa" Mena. Mena is seeking his second full term in elected office. He first won in a 2015 By-Election, defeating Anthony Sabal by over 600 votes. In the General Election 4 months later, Mena won by just over 300 votes.

This time around, the PUP's candidate is Dr. Louis Zabaneh, who served as a PUP senator up until October, when parliament was dissolved. Dr. Zabaneh wants to return to parliament, but this time as an elected representative.

The final candidate in Dangriga is John Suazo, a town resident who is representing the Belize People's Front.

In Stann Creek West, this election will be very interesting with 5 candidates. It's a notable coincidence that the division with the most re-registered electors - almost 10,000 - also has the most candidates.

The incumbent in this division is the PUP's Rodwell Ferguson, and he's asking voters to return him to office for the 4th time.

Ferguson's most experienced opponent is definitely Melvin Hulse Jr. As a UDP candidate, Hulse first won in 1993. In 2008, Hulse defeated Ferguson, but when they had a general election rematch in 2012, Ferguson won and has held on to the parliamentary seat since then.

But, Hulse had a falling out with the UDP and for this election, he is running as an independent candidate.

The UDP's candidate this time around is Ivan Williams, the former Labour Commissioner who seeking to continue his life as a public servant, but as a policymaker this time.

The Belize Progressive Party is being represented in this division by Hubert McCaulay.

The final candidate is another independent by the name of Mateo Polanco.

For the final divisions in the Toledo District, there are 5 candidates, 3 for Toledo East, and 2 for Toledo West.

In Toledo East, the incumbent is the PUP's Mike Espat, and he is trying to win his 5th election in this division. If he is successful, this would be his 3rd consecutive victory.

He's being challenged UDP's Dennis Garbutt, who is running in his first general election.

Both candidates are being challenged by Orlando Muschamp, and independent.

In Toledo West, the incumbent is PUP's Oscar Requena, and he is trying to win his 3rd consecutive general election in this division.

He is being challenged by UDP's Dr. Simeon Coc, a career educator who has entered Belizean politics.
