He may have come into office under the UDP, but Belize's Ombudsman, Lionel Arzu is staying alive under the PUP. He's issued a release showing that he has held meetings with the Prime Minister, John Briceno, the Deputy Prime Minister Cordel Hyde, and the Minister of Home Affairs, Kareem Musa, dating back to December.
A press release from the Ombudsman says, quote, "The current situation at the Office of the Ombudsman; the report on the institutional assessment of the existing viable institutions with human rights mandates; the need for cooperation and collaboration between the Government of Belize ministries and departments with the Office of the Ombudsman; and the Government's plans for the Office of the Ombudsman were amongst the topics discussed."
