And while the opposition leader may engage in fanciful thinking about what might've been, the fact is that the Briceno Administration entered a burning room in Belmopan, and putting the fire out isn't going to be easy.

But, will the UDP fan the flames of discontent and try to sidle up to the unions for political opportunism? That's what we asked Faber:

Hon. Patrick Faber - Leader of the Opposition

"It is a good opportune time; you have a constitutional majority in the house. It is a good time to fix all that was terribly wrong, even under the UDP in terms of collecting revenues, It is a good time you have the whole country now, local and national government, to bite the bullet and say let's fix what is wrong let us collect all of this revenue from all the land taxes that we know has plagued us for so long. Let us make the kind of changes to the tax structure that we need to in order to garner to change the leakages that exist. This is what the unions are saying and I have to say the UDP agrees 100% let us do because that was our position, let us do all that is in our power in order to ensure that there can be no other redress to the situation before we get to cutting the salaries of teachers and public servants."
