Before Prime Minister Briceno left for Guatemala City yesterday, he chaired a meeting of the Cabinet.
A Government press release says that the Cabinet welcomed the comprehensive completion report of the Emergency Works carried out from November 2020 to May 2021. This is the same report we've been waiting ion for months now from Minister of Infrastructure Development and Housing, Julius Espat. We await public disclosure.
Next, the Cabinet heard from Deputy Prime Minister Cordel Hyde about the technical challenges Belize faces in trying to manage growing volumes of waste, the challenges in waste collection services - particularly in relation to rural communities, the lack of adequate recycling programs, and insufficient management practices at disposal sites.
Anthony Mahler, the Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, then gave a report on his visit to the northern border, and his exchange with the Mexican press in relation to the phased reopening of land and sea border points to receive foreign tourists.
