And one of the issues Belisle will have to overcome are those pictures with Lev Dermen. Deremn was Saldivar's downfall, but can Khalid escape the taint any association? We asked him last night:

"Did you receive campaign contributions from Lev Dermen?"
Khalid Belisle - UDP Senator
"No sir, at no point in time."
Jules Vasquez
"So, did you feel that you being unfairly victimized for what you characterize as an association in passing?"
Khalid Belisle
"Absolutely not, I made no denials of having met the gentleman, I met him in person on two occasions, once in the United States, once here in Belize and if it was that people jump the gun and pronounced guilty by association, that is somewhat second nature here in Belize."
Jules Vasquez
"But receiving campaign contributions is not a crime."
Khalid Belisle
"Not as far as I know."
Jules Vasquez
"So, you could have received campaign contributions."
Khalid Belisle
"Right and if I had I would have told you I did right away."
Jules Vasquez
"Sir but if he was giving John Saldivar campaign contributions and you knew campaign contributions mi the come and those are always needed, did you ever think to ask good ole Lev to drop a lee shilling?"
Khalid Belisle
"I have a hard time asking people for money Jules and that's just me, it's not something I'm comfortable doing."
