As all the world knows, the UDP is going through the throes of a post Dean Barrow transition - and while they're fixing breakfast for this new day - in doing so, they're breaking a whole lot of eggs - or, you might call them bad eggs.

Patrick Faber is trying to purge those politicians with a negative public image out of the UDP.

And one of them is John Saldivar. Faber would wish to have former two term mayor Khalid Belisle take his spot as standard bearer. That plan was in train when Faber named Belisle as Senator - but then it went off the tracks when Faber was removed as parliamentary leader of the opposition - and Shyne Barrow side-lined Belisle and named a new Senator in his place, Darrell Bradley.

Well, Belisle says he is still interested din Belmopan and declared his candidacy last night:

Jules Vasquez
"Do you hope to become the UDP standard bearer for Belmopan? And what does that leave for John Saldivar?"

Khalid Belisle - UDP Senator
"Over the past few months I have had outreach die hard UDP, I've had outreach from independent voters of Belmopan and outreach from a PUP friends or two, I do have them in the city, all encouraging me to give strong consideration to offering myself to serve UDP care take in Belmopan going forward and after talking it over with those close to me, I can tell you tonight that it is my intention to pursue that course at this point in time."

Jules Vasquez
"Realistically can you beat John Saldivar in a convention?"

Khalid Belisle
"I believe if we put the right team together and we have the right ideas in place and we do the groundwork that we can certainly have a good showing resulting in victory."
