The Cayo Northeast area rep. was actually threatened by one of the residents of Spanish Lookout, simply because the government he is a part of continues to enforce the COVID regulations.
He discussed it last night:

"I was reprimanded really with a lot of harsh words on a WhatsApp message."

"I heard you got threatened minister."
Hon. Orlando Habet
"Well threatened in a way certainly because of the same issue and the person insulted me saying that he will do this and that and the next because of this, so I said but we are friends who come you are attacking me, secondly I am not the minister of health but yes I take part of the blame for the implementation of the regulations at that time, I was not here I was in France and so I wasn't even here in the country when it happened but regardless of that, I don't think he had the right to insult me, he could have said it in a different way."

"Did he threaten the safety of your family?"

"I think so because of the words that he used, so I was asked about it and I didn't do a report but I mentioned it to the head of police."

"I understand this person's firearms were taken away."

"That's what I understand. Truthfully, I was asked to make a report, I didn't, I didn't think it merit to make a report otherwise he would have been held for 48 hours or more, so I left it alone because I have other friends in Spanish Lookout who didn't like what happened and they told him about it. As a matter of fact, I even wrote back and asked are you sure you are sending this to me or made a mistake, he said was to you and that was it but when I asked the reason why he insulted me, because I said I have not disrespected him, he said yes, you disrespect me when you can come publicly and say that you support vaccination. I said well, there goes the issue of your rights, because he have his right to say no and then my freedom of speech on my side to say yes, so something is wrong."

"Are you concerned that it will affect your political fortunes in Cayo North East? It's already historically a very close constituency."

"Yes, I was happy to get their support, some of them have threatened that they will no longer support me in the next elections, what they don't know about me is that I can care less of the elections, I think I have to do the right thing and so if that's the way they think, then unfortunately so but despite I still continue to work with them."
