Last night, on Channel 7's Uncut show, 3 executive members of the Public Service Union appeared as guests. They spoke about several important issues of national interest - including the redundancy of Dr. Marvin Manzanero.

Several weeks ago, the Briceno Administration passed amendments to 12 pieces of legislation to abolish Dr. Manza's post as the Director of Health Services. The justification given was that it was a move to restructure the Ministry where the DHS post would be replaced by 2 new positions: a Director of Public Health and Wellness, and a Director of Hospital Services.

Those amendments were passed in both the House and Senate. And, from the perspective of the serving public servants, there are a number of consequential departures from established Public Service rules which the Health Ministry is engaging in when seeking applicants for these new offices. We turn, however, to the comments of the PSU President on whether or not this redundancy improved efficiency within that Ministry.:
