Turning back to politics now, as we showed you earlier, the UDP held a press conference today focussing broadly on national issues. The main one was the conduct of the Prime Minister - but in the 90 minute long event, the four UDP reps at the head table went full-on scattershot - jumping from one government failure to the next.

One subject that did get some sustained focus - especially heading into the village council elections in less than two weeks - is the ever rising cost of living and soaring inflation.

That urged the UDP's second deputy to start conjugating the PUP's election slogan to amplify the inflation effect in villages:

Beverly Williams, UDP Second Deputy Leader
"We've taken away the pantry, you hear people in the villages protecting todos ganamos, todos pagamos and if I may say we are now at todos chi------."

Tony Herrera, UDP Senator

"Basic food items, our main protein source beans have gone up so much. Our staple, the chicken has been up. Those are things that affect every one of us at the village level has been up, so those are things that affect everyone of us at the village level. Only Sarteneja we have an average of 70 young tour guides who are unemployed, so how come we can accept that the tourism industry is bouncing back and is robust, I don't see where."

Moses "Shyne" Barrow - Leader of Opposition
"These are all people who grew up in wealth, so ofcourse they don't understand 69% increase for pigtail and the increases for rice and for flour, and corn beef where Michael Finnegan like cook. They will never understand that, because they never knew what it was to buy pack bread and put condense milk on that and eat that. They have no clue."
