One entertainer who's speaking up for an urgent revision of this bill is veteran party act Ozzie the Clown.
When we spoke to him today he told us that a $200 tax per event would leave him without any profit to speak of and even worse struggling to afford his clown shoes.
And while Ozzie has no major objection to paying the taxman he's hoping the government will reconsider these arbitrary fees and instead tax him on what he earns.
Javier Canul, Ozzie the Clown

"First of all let's talk about preparation, you have to put music together, know what type of show you're going to do whether it's kiddies or an adult show then it takes me an hour to get dressed. I have to make sure all my props are clean and make sure that they are in order and they are functioning. If they aren't functioning then I have to buy whatever I need to buy like my glue, my nails, my little deodorant because you have to spray your equipment make they smell nice and everything can't smell bad and then after that you have to think about where you're going to go, if it's in the city then it's a cab ride, it's $8 now gas went up if it's out district you have to calculate mileage and people right now don't want to pay mileage but if I have to pay fuel then I try to put that on the person who is hiring me, listen I can go there but you have to pay mileage alright so all of that you have to put together in one package then if I work for an hour, honestly I charge $175.00 alright, if I work for two hours basically I charge $300.00."
Cherisse Halsall:
"What was your reaction given what you charge when you heard that the government wanted to charge entertainers a new tax of $200 to prevent?"
Javier Canul, Ozzie the Clown
"Well, I was really upset, I quickly put it on Facebook but afterwards, I took it down and I said you know what when I think about it I don't mind paying tax and I am being real. We have to help the government, not the government sorry, the country but you have to, if you tell me to listen you are working as Ozzie the Clown and we know that we want to tax you and we will charge you $100.00 for a trade license that's fine with me but you are going to tell me your charging me $200.00 that I'm not making I mean I have to consider my clothing, one of my clown shoes cause $75.00 alright and I'm talking the US so that's $150.00 Belize right a clown suit is one hundred and add dollars so when you are telling me that you are going to charge me $200 per event mein, that is ridiculous. While I believe that we should pay tax I don't think it… They have to come with a better management in that area. Even the bible sys render onto Ceasa what is Caesar's. so i am in agreement with paying tax but be more justifiable toward what we wanna do, no."
