Shortly before newstime, the UDP sent out a press release bashing the new piece of legislation.

The statement says, quote, "...This Black Friday Bill was written by technocrats years ago, in an exercise that started as far back as 2014 but [was] vehemently rejected by the UDP Cabinet. The position of the UDP then, as is the position now, is no bill that seeks to punish the entrepreneurial spirit of the least fortunate among us should be entertained by those seeking to improve lives. Only a government that is bankrupt of ideas and reaching for low-lying fruits would even contemplate pushing this hustle killer. The very introduction of the Black Friday Bill leaves us with one of only two possible conclusions. It validates the widespread belief that this government is not being run by those elected to govern… The only other conclusion is that members of the PUP Cabinet are so out of touch, so detached from reality, or so heartless that they read the Trade License Reform Bill and supported the requirement for roadside peddlers, yard cleaners, artists, artisans, entertainers, and everyone hustling to survive to pay additional taxes to government... to operate." End quote.
