And one fiery exchange that did not result in any criminal statistic is PC Alicia Trapp's berating of PUP Cayo South Rep Julius Espat.

As we told you last night - her attorney OJ Elrington has filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court alleging that her constitutional rights were violated when she was made to face disciplinary charges for her social media outburst.

The government has responded by hiring one of the country's top law firms, Barrow and Company - and, presumably, its lead senior counsel Andrew Marshalleck. For Trapp's Attorney OJ Elrington, that is an indication of how seriously the government takes this case.

We asked the Police Minister about the decision to retain outside counsel:

Hon. Kareem Musa, Min. of Home Affairs & New Growth Industries
"It's very normal, Daniel, for the Government to retain private counsel in cases, especially of this nature, which has widespread implications, and consequences for the future as well. As you know, police officers are bound by very strict regulations, very strict rules. And if there is a particular breach, whether it's social media policy, or behavior by our politics, by a particular officer in a political manner, those are matters - As I said, it's best to have that tried by the best attorneys. And so, yes, Mr. Marshalleck has been retained by the government to represent, and that is primarily to ensure that moving forward, we do have the principles and the judgment in place that basically enforces and reinforces what the law says."

Daniel Ortiz
"Sir, what are your thoughts on maybe one of the issues coming up on whether or not an organization - even one such as a disciplined organization, like the police - restricts one's freedoms, maybe for the betterment or for the benefit of the disciplined organization? But it is indeed a restriction of what could be their constitutional rights - that debate."

Hon. Kareem Musa, Min. of Home Affairs & New Growth Industries
"That's a very good debate to have. But at the same time, we have to understand that we live in a very political nation, whereby things get very tribal, people can get very offensive, and particular offices should not get involved in politics. That is the equivalent of saying me - when I become minister, I should terminate all UDP police officers because they are so against the PUP people. We don't want to go down that rabbit hole. That's a very slippery slope of having police officers become political. We don't want that to happen. But at the same time, you're perfectly right. They must have that freedom of expression to go out and vote and support the party of their choice, but not to be offensive, not to be political, and not to be breaching policies of the department."
