In today's Cabinet Brief, the government confirmed reports that the PM's second candidate for Chair of the Public Service Commission has pulled out.

That statement says, quote, "The Prime Minister informed Cabinet that after accepting to serve as the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission, Mr. Cresencio Sosa, Sr. requested that his name be withdrawn from the post due to illness." End quote.

The PSU President told us today that his membership supported the proposed appointment of Sosa to the post. But, now that he has withdrawn, they recommend that the government consider Alfredo Cruz as the new candidate for PSC Chair.

So, why does Alfredo Cruz enjoy the union's support? Flowers explained:

All Saints, All Projectors

Last week, we told you that All Saints Primary School is moving towards more technology-based learning after receiving a donation of ten projectors from the Ministry of Education. Well, today they received four more from Anwar Barrow and those at Quickstop Personal Finance Center. And that's not all - 16 students also received scholarships valued at $125.

At the handing over ceremony today, we spoke to the principal about this donation.

In total, the school now has 16 projectors, after a parent donated two more.

Cameras For Deadman Road

And finally tonight, while the John Smith Road has become a more known as a dumping ground for dead bodies - than a time saving shortcut, police are working to make it safer. They're adding cameras on the road. Today the ComPol gave us an update on the project:

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"We're in the process of doing the installation, we have done the site visits to identify the areas where we'll put the cameras and so hopefully by the end of this week or next week, Champion Security will be installing the cameras.

Reporter
"How many cameras are we talking about?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"We're looking at 3 PTZ's and two license readers."

Notably, 7 bodies have been found in the vicinity of the John Smith Road in just over four years.
