And the PM was also asked about the date for the increase in minimum wage that is expected to go from $3.30 to $5 dollars an hour. Briceno confirmed that this is set for implementation at the start of next year, whether or not businesses are ready.

"We have announced this months ago that this is coming, we have been having these discussions, it was in PlanBelize, and the minimum wage is going up on the first of January."
