And that National Party Council meeting in a week means that Saldivar will be flexing for all the support he can muster - which is a considerable number. That's because he's the head of the Caucus for Change - a bloc of about 20 constituencies allied with him. They almost spearheaded an overthrow of Patrick Faber when he was leader - and they got his successor Shyne Barrow elected.

So, what will that group do now that Saldivar is on the political chopping block? Barrow didn't want to talk about the Caucus:

Jules Vasquez
"Sir, will he continue to lead the caucus for change?"

Hon. Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"I don't speak for the caucus for change."

Jules Vasquez
"Okay, so the caucus for change - maybe you heard of them are a group of..."

Hon. Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"No, I don't speak for them."

Jules Vasquez
"I understand. But you understand that they are the largest constituent group in the party, the largest organized constituent group and from what I saw at his press conference and the pronouncements he's been making in inter-party chats, he's still is able to summons the caucus for change members. Will you try and now engage these member of the caucus for change who supported you in the convention. Will you try and engage them now so that you can be their leader?"

Hon. Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"I am the leader of the United Democratic Party whether the caucus for change, whether non-affiliated, I will continue as I have done to engage all of my colleagues."

Of course, this is a story we'll keep following closely.
